Apple Picking at Larriland Farms

While it was not an ideal apple picking day (a hazy, hot and humid 95 degrees!) it was still a successful trip to Larriland Farm in Howard County, MD last Friday.  http://www.pickyourown.com/  We have been there before during other seasons to pick blackberries and peaches.  Although we went to pick apples, the vast array of pumpkins was really the main attraction, as you can see!  They have some amazing varieties that I have never seen before.  Z described a few of them by saying they were "peanuty" and "warty."  Good descriptions!

The apples available to pick were Golden Delicious and Ida Red apples.  Z did a great job picking the nicest apples, Chooch on the other hand was more interested in eating than picking.  She walked though the orchard, picking up all the apples on the ground and taking a big bite out of each one!  But hey, she had fun!

We brought home about 7 pounds of apples... and enjoyed our homemade apple pie!

  3. Store bought dough = easiest thing ever. And I have a really cool apple peeler/core-er/slicer gadget.
